K to 12 field trip booking request form
Who should use this booking form: K-12 school teachers, home-school teachers and youth group leaders who want to book a marine science education program at the Deep Bay Marine Field Station.

2026-2027 school program availability (updated 9 Sept 2026)
We have capacity for 4 program days in fall 2026 on any of the following days: September 28, 29; October 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 26, 27, 28, 29, November 2, 3, 5, December 7,8, 14, 15, 16, 17.
We have capacity for 2-3 program days each week in spring 2026 on any of the following days: January 11-15, 18, 19, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, 29, February 1-5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 22-26, March 8-12, 30, 31, April (all days), May 7 (intertidal program only), May 10-14 and 25-28 (non-intertidal only), June 2, 3, 16, 17, 18 (intertidal program only), June 8-11, 14, 15 (non-intertidal only).
Single class bookings
You can book up to two programs on the same day including one classroom program and one non-classroom program. Classroom programs: Killer Whale Commotion, Shellfish Biology, Perils of Plastic, Amazing Adaptations, Gyotaku Fish Printing and Algal Lab. Non-classroom programs: Research Station Tour and Touch Tank and Aquaria Experience. If you book an Intertidal program, there will not be time for a second program.
Two class bookings
Both classes must book the same program, which we will run one after the other, while the other class is outside the station doing a teacher-led scavenger-hunt activity (we provide worksheets, clip boards and pencils). If you book an intertidal program there will not be time for a second program.
Full day secondary school field trips
If you wish to build a specialized day of marine science programming for your secondary school science students please email STEMantics@viu.ca. Additional charges apply.
Important notes
- Fees are $125/hour + GST for most programs.
- School classes are limited to 30 students.
- School classes may use outdoor amphitheatre area for lunch or snack if not in use.
- Please arrive 10-15 minutes early so that your program begins on time.
